UK: The Guardian and Observer to launch subscription service

Guardian News & Media is launching a subscription service for Guardian and Observer readers this weekend.

From Saturday GNM, which also publishes MediaGuardian.co.uk, will offer readers of the two papers three varying subscription rates.

Readers will be able to take out a weekend subscription to take the Saturday edition of the Guardian and the following day's Observer, which will entitle them to a 20% discount on cover price.

A six-day subscription to the Guardian will entitle readers to a 25% reduction, with a full seven-day subscription resulting in a 33% discount on the cover price.

The Times and the Telegraph already do discount subscriptions as seen here and here.

A few hours later and they then announce a price rise for both papers. Read about that here.
