Retired January 31st 2005 as Senior Editor for Innovation at the Chicago Tribune working on new product initiatives for the paper and the parent Tribune Company.
-Leader in all the redesigns of the Chicago Tribune for the last 38 years and a key consultant in the redesign of many Tribune Company papers.
-Helped design and create all the news and feature sections at the Tribune since 1970.
-Developed the first graphics department at the Tribune.
-Helped the Tribune advertising department redesign its classified sections dozens of times.
-Helped shape the online development of Classified Ventures which features Cars.com CareerBuilder and other classified marketplaces.
-Been involved in editorial online development as well. Was a leader of the teams that built the Tribune's Sept. 11 CD-ROM "When America saw evil" and of the newspaper's CD-ROM biography of Pope John Paul II "Be not afraid." In addition, have led the design of several books, printed promotional materials, special sections and all manners of newspaper projects.

2005- Judge for the Hearst Newspaper company Best of the Best monthly contest
Awards
1970-2005- Member of three Pulitzer Prize winning teams at the Chicago Tribune
2002 Pulitzer Public Service award nominee for the concept and development of a CD-Rom commemorating 9/11.
Outstanding Professional Performance award from the Chicago Tribune.
Over 100 design awards including several Gold Medals from the Society of News Design Annual World Design Contest and several other design organizations.
1993 Reneker Management Award
1996-Honored by Ball State University's journalism department, which created the Anton Majeri Award for innovation and leadership in graphic journalism. This award has been given out every since its inauguration to the top visual journalist in the world.
1999 Tribune Management Award
2000 Media Citation from the National Scholastic Press Association for lifetime work with high school journalists.
2000 Tribune Presidential Award for redesign of the paper.
2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of News Design.
2006 Presidents Award from Society of News Design for helping create the first Ethics Standards Code for visual journalists
2006 Communication Fellowship at Ball State University
2008 Inducted into the Ball State Journalism Hall of Fame
