- I've worked for the St. Petersburg Times for twenty years. I'm currently Deputy Newsart Director/Senior Artist. I've served as design director (1995-99) and as an acting art director off and on since 1999. My first love is to report visually. Newspapers and magazines have a rich tradition of using artists to help report the news... especially before photgraphy became the main source for visuals during the last century. I love to sketch and interview for stories and projects. I've be in the field during hurricanes and have reported from two Super Bowls. I have helped produce several multimedia projects over the last few years here at the Times – mainly as reporter/artist providing images and sound for our web experts to use in the final production. I want to become more adept at producing my own work. I am also a guitarist and freelance illustrator working through my artist reps, Alexander/Pollard in Atalanta. OH yeah... another huge goal of mine is to be on facebook and to learn to use twitter in the nect couple months.
