The Ventura County Star is looking to fill a design position for our
recently redesigned feature section. DayToDay is a magazinelike concept
that focuses on features, news to use, consumer issues, lifestyle trends
and more. The job also entails working with another designer on a weekly
entertainment product where you can express your creativity in a tab
format.
You will have an opportunity to have a voice in our newsroom, working
closely with photo editors, other designers and reporters to produce an
intriguing and visually interesting daily section.
Qualifications: We are looking for someone with at least 2 to 3 years of
experience at a news or design organization. Excellent communication
skills. Must be proficient in InDesign and Photoshop. Any multimedia or
illustration skills are a bonus, but are not required.
We are an E.W. Scripps-owned paper located in sunny, Southern
California, only 15 minutes from the beach. According to the Audit
Bureau of Circulations, in the past six months The Star had the
sixth-highest circulation gain in the country. Our online audience at
VenturaCountyStar.com is growing as well, with an increase of more than
a million page views over a year ago.
