Hello all, just learned that we are going to redesign a paper in the Middle East....in Arabic. I've had several conversations with Arabic speakers about fonts but I was wondering if any of the brain trust at Visual Editors ever had any experience designing in Arabic. And, of course, if anyone has favorite Arabic, I am all ears....thanks....
I haven't designed any publications in Arabic, but I've heard about an interesting Lebanese designer specializing in Arabic fonts. Her name is Nadine Chahine and she has a blog with examples of her work at http://www.arabictype.com/blog/arabic-fonts/
Great Ryan! is an excellent experience I was part of redesign process in to arabic papers in UAE. After that experience I decide to work with them, You will never stop to learn about arabic typography uses and the different perspective about the news presentation as well. Now I'm working in the information graphic department, you can see some samples in my site. L
Thanks, Dan! The link is a great reference to me. I need this week, in fact, an Arabic glyph to use for video titling. Your information is just in time, my friend. I am considering the Linotype Arabic Frutiger series for lower thirds in the documentary I am producing in Alexandria this week. Just in time because the film will debut at the Bibliotecha Library here next Wednesday. The modern Arabic drawings are so nice - much appreciated!
luis, great work, the olympics supplement in particular is beautiful....you got any favorite arabic fonts? what fonts do you guys use for your graphics?
